On behalf of the New York State Association of Black and Puerto Rican Legislators, Inc. (NYSABPRL), I welcome you to join us for our 48th Annual Legislative Conference in Albany, New York, from Friday, February 15th to 17th, 2019.  This weekend events have been structured and presented in keeping with NYSABRL’s mission and annual agenda to inform, unite and support communities of color.

NYSABPRL’s vision is to maintain and expand the existing programs that benefit our communities on a statewide basis, partnering with our legislative leaders, local community stakeholders, activists, advocates, community-based organizations, labor and corporate America to attend tot this vision.  The 48th Annual Legislative Conference is comprised of a series of educational events and networking opportunities to provide relevant resources to attendees of all ages.

Our theme this year is: “We are the Agents of Change: Strong, Resilient, Unified”.  Towards that end, the 48th Annual Legislative Conference will bring together the most influential African-American, Hispanic-American, Caribbean-American and Asian-American leaders from every corner of the Empire State and the United States, to present and discuss the New York’s most important issues and set the agenda for the year.  Starting in 2017, Chairwoman Latrice Walker, Esq., made attracting young professionals from all fields one of NYSABPRL’s priorities.

At this weekend’s convention, NYSABPRL will be introducing a Young Professionals Brunch.  The weekend events begin with our Chairwoman's Reception on Friday evening.  Throughout the day on Saturday, we will be hosting issue-focused workshops, seminars, forums sponsored by NYSABPRL’s members, our Annual Youth Summit, the Career and Business Expo, the Craft Exhibition Fair, our Annual Labor Luncheon, followed by a Saturday evening concert and after party.  On Sunday morning, we take time to attend church service -- as our ancestors did – at Wilborn Temple, in Albany.

On Sunday evening, our weekend convention is culminated by the 48th Annual Gala Scholarship Dinner and awards ceremony.  We consider this one of our most important events.  As such, NYSABPRL encourages everyone to join us at our Annual Scholarship Dinner Gala, and to support our members’ scholarship initiatives through the purchase of tickets for the 48th Annual Gala Dinner (the net proceeds from which will be awarded to students of color seeking higher education at institutions across New York State).
